Noah’s News November 2016

“So once in every year we throng
Upon a day apart,
To praise the Lord with feast and song
In thankfulness of heart.”
Arthur Guiterman, The First Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Feast “Luncheon”!

This year we are doing things a bit differently. Each child will have 1 ticket to invite a parent/grandparent/older family member to join us for Chapel, followed by a Thanksgiving themed luncheon on Wednesday Nov. 16th in Fellowship Hall, where we can all enjoy a good meal and plenty of conversation with our classmates, family members and teachers! We will post a sign-up sheet in your child’s classroom for items needed to share with each class; the school will provide the turkey sandwiches! Due to limited space we are allotting the 1 “guest” ticket per child. Please RSVP in your child's classroom by Friday 11/11/16 so that we may get an idea of the  number attending, and if any additional tickets may become available to give out. (Younger siblings not requiring a seat as they will either be in a stroller or on a parent's lap will not need a ticket.)

Ms. Kathy and the YUM! Program

Ms. Kathy from the YUM! program visits with us monthly to teach the children about “My Plate” and the food groups, as well as the importance of exercise. She will be here on Monday November 28th to talk about vegetables!

Community Helpers

This month we will be focusing on community helpers in our neighborhood. We are hopeful to line up some school visits, so if anyone wishes to talk about their occupation with the children, please come see Ms. Lauren to set up a day and time to do so!

Runny Noses and Freezing Toes-es

Our weather is beginning to change!  Please bring a sweatshirt or lightweight jacket in case our wind picks up or if your child feels chilly. With cold and flu season starting, please have your child eat well and get plenty of rest as it is easy to get run down in the excitement of the upcoming holiday season. Please remember that if your child is out sick, to call the school and let us know. Any child that is out 3 days or more is required to bring in a note from their doctor stating that it is o.k. for them to return to school. Please also keep in mind that your child should be here at school no later than 8:30 am so that they may get the full benefit of their morning routine, as well as not disrupting the flow of the class for the teacher/their fellow classmates. If your child will be coming in after 9 am due to a doctor’s appointment, please bring a note from the doctor in with them as well.

Spaghetti Dinner

St. Paul's Presbyterian Church is holding its monthly Spaghetti Dinner on Tuesday 11/15/16 in the Fellowship Hall from 4:30-6:30 pm. Dinner includes spaghetti with homemade meat sauce, salad, garlic bread, dessert and beverage for the low price of $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for children under 10! Ms. Kellie and Ms. Lauren will be volunteering this month, so come by and see us for dinner!

School Closure Dates:

Thanksgiving Break

The school will be closed Thursday Nov. 24th & Friday Nov. 25th for Thanksgiving break. We hope that everyone enjoys this time with their families and lots of yummy food as we all reflect upon what we are thankful for!
