1 Peter 5:6-11 July 1, 2020

Pastor Bruce Hedgepeth

1 Peter 5:6-11 Steadfast

While these verses were originally intended for an early Christian community being persecuted for their faith, it is striking to me how appropriate the instructions and encouragement are for us today-during these times of worldwide suffering & pandemic.

Instructs us to humble ourselves before the Lord and God will exalt us in his time. The Lord is at work in this crisis and will bring about his good, through the pain, if we humble ourselves to learn.

This is a time to give our anxiety & cares to God. This is a time to be steadfast in relying on the word. This is a time when we are facing the same challenges as brothers and sisters all around the world. Perhaps this is one of the things that God is teaching us-we are connected.

Lord, as we are steadfast in trusting you. we hold on to your promise at the end of this passage to restore us, support us, strengthen us, and established us-to the glory of your mighty name.
