Psalm 104:24-35 July 8, 2020

Pastor Bruce Hedgepeth

Psalm 104:24-35 Sing

This is a psalm of praise to God, who created the earth and everything in it. It is a song of the Lord's power, provision, greatness, and creativity.

The psalmist sings of God's wisdom in filling the earth with creatures-on the land and in the sea, great and small. All dependent on the Lord's provision for food and God's breath for life.

Poignant verses (29-30) for this time of pandemic and protest and economic uncertainty: "When you hide your face, they are dismayed; when you take away your breath, they die and return to their dust. When you send forth your spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the ground."

This psalmist ends with a song of praise to God. O, Lord I join my voice with the psalmist, singing your praises; extol your wisdom; grateful for your provision, we are dismayed, O God. Turn your face toward us. draw us to you in song. Send forth your spirit to recreate us and revive our land.
