Psalm 116 May 17, 2020

Pastor Bruce

Psalm 116 Bounty

Psalmist has experienced God's deliverance from a sickness that brought him to the point of death.

writes about what it was like: facing death, calling out to the Lord, feeling God hearing and answering that prayer; experiencing healing and God's protection; describes it as the Lord's bounty.

Then the psalmist writes about his response to receive God's bounty of healing an deliverance and life. Lift up cup of salvation, Call on the name of the Lord; pay my vows to God, offer thanksgiving sacrifice, do all this in the  presence of God's people or public worship.

Lord, having prayed Psalm 91 this morning, asking for you to take away the evil of the Coronavirus from the earth, this is a psalm that makes me think of what my response, what our response could be when we have seen with our eyes your deliverance from this evil.

Let me, let us, receive deliverance as the bounty of your hand and respond with praise and thanksgiving and offerings an gathering to worship you.

We love you, God, incline your ear, hear our prayer. Amen.
