Psalm 68:1-10 June 29, 2020

Pastor Bruce Hedgepeth

Psalm 68:1-10 Protector

This is a psalm of praise to God for his protection and deliverance of his people from enemies and threats.

Draws on images of how the Lord went before, behind and over his people as protector during the Exodus.

Striking description of God in v. 5: Father of orphans and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation."

Connect the Lord's protection and deliverance in the past for God's people with praise that the Lord is still the protector of the righteous-especially in difficult times.

So much to appreciate, this image of God as "Father of orphans and protector of widows." some of the most vulnerable in their setting.

This image of the Lord as protector is one for me and for us in these times when we recognize just how vulnerable we are to powers and forces beyond our control.

Protect  and preserve your righteous people, O God. Go before us and behind us. Watch over us.
